Secrets On How To Get Listed On DMOZ
DMOZ or Directory Mozilla is also known as the Open Directory Project and is one of the major search engine directories in the internet. DMOZ uses a human-powered search engine and directory listing.
If you want to promote your business’s website, enlisting in DMOZ will surely boost your website traffic. Other search engines and directories also use DMOZ so when you submit your website to DMOZ, it will automatically be included to Google, Yahoo and other search engines.
Here are some tips on what you can do if you want to enlist your site in DMOZ search engine and directory listing:
Submit your website.
You can submit your site at the Open Directory Project at http://www.dmoz.org. You must choose the category that is most appropriate to the content of your website. Choose the category and subcategory very carefully since submitting in the wrong category can result to a long waiting period or even rejection.
Title and Description.
Provide the title of your website and write a short description about its content and theme. Make sure that your title and description matches your website accordingly. Providing incorrect details may also cause rejection or a long waiting period. Do not give very complicated descriptions, keep it clear and concise. After submission, your website will be subjected for review by DMOZ editors that are assigned to that particular subcategory you’ve submitted.
Create content for the subcategory
You can also create a content that specially tackles the subject of a particular subcategory. This lets you get approved more easily within a subcategory. Just make sure that the web page you’ll be submitting is original and outstanding in content so that you’re guaranteed to get a place on the listing.
Do not resubmit your website Because of the large bulk of website submissions lined up for review, you may need to wait for 6 months or even more before your website is included in the listing. If you do not get enlisted after 6 months, you can contact the editors of the subcategory you selected. Never resubmit your site since this can only delay your waiting further or you may even get rejected by the editors.
Provide unique content. In the end, it still comes down to the content of your website. Keep your website updated. If you have quality content that is both unique and informative, people will always come to check out your website and there is no reason why you will not get a listing with DMOZ. Search engines love user-friendly websites that offer new and great content.
